"SPEAK TO ME"

« Speak to me » analyses the non-verbal aspects of speech.

By objectively scanning a set of parameters associated with speech (vibration of vocal chords, respiration, intensity, pitch, etc.) and translating them into moving image, or « voice-aura » , the program reveals the emotional state of the speaker.

This programm is a performative piece which explores moving images as new forms of dialogue, new ways of telling narratives and archiving/documenting a live spectacle.

I found a sound archive of Guillaume Apollinaire reading ” Le pont Mirabeau” in 1913. The intensity and the emotion in his voice are really strong.

"Speak to me" could record the voice emotions of the performer, and keep them as a “score”, creating a faithful archive of the performance.

The last four videos are four attempts to interpret Guillaume Apollinaire’s poem.
They show the way the score changes as I play with my voice and expressions.
